
Scholarship
The Epsilon Beta Lambda Chapter Foundation is proud to award annual academic scholarships to high school seniors and current college freshmen. A part of the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha is to promote academic excellence; thus, we acknowledge the importance of providing resources to help further students' education.
This year 's application season launches on January 22nd, 2025, with all applications and supplementary materials due by 11:59pm on March 1, 2025. Our Scholarship Committee will review all completed and properly submitted applications.
The criteria for the Robert J. Stevenson Memorial Award (for high shcool seniors) and the David L. Dillard Memorial Award (for college freshmen) are listed below:

Must attend high school in Bibb or Jones County

Must be a high school senior and/or a college freshman (David L. Dillard Memorial Award only) with a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or higher

Must submit an official transcript

Optional: Can submit SAT/ACT scores if taken and desired; if not, write an academic essay. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!

Submit one letter of recommendation (teacher, counselor, principal, APA ETS staff)
-
Must participate in the interview process if selected to move to the interview rounds

Must write a personal statement no less than 500 words on the provided topic
The Scholarship Committee will score and rank all completed applications. The top 10 finalists will be contacted for interviews, and one winner for each scholarship will be selected.

We are proud to announce that Mid South Community Credit Union has partnered with The Epsilon Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to offer an annual scholarship. The Scholarship Award is $2,000 and will be disbursed in four annual installments of $500 each. This initiative reflects both organizations' commitment to empowering future leaders by providing financial support to students pursuing higher education. The application requirements are listed below.

Must be a high school senior attending school in Baldwin, Bibb, or Houston County

Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

Must be planning to attend a college, university, or technical school in the Fall

Proof of admission will be required to receive funds

Statement of Purpose (not to exceed 500 words) that addresses:

Student's reason for applying for the scholarship

Student's intended use of the funds
-
Student's academic and career interest(s)
-
Student's intended contribution to society during and after college

Essay explaining the importance of financial literacy (not to exceed 500 words)
-
Two letters of recommendation
-
One letter must come from a school official
-
The second letter can come from a non-relative community member (i.e., employer, mentor, pastor, etc)

Annual recertification of enrollment (up to four years) by submitting the following documents by June 1st of each consecutive year following the first award:

Transcript reflecting a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

Schedule for the Summer or Fall semester of the subsequent year
